Palki Sharma Upadhyay

Indian journalist, news anchor, and media executive best known for her international news reporting and analysis. She primarily rose to fame as the host of the flagship prime-time show Gravitas on WION and has also hosted the Firstpost/CNN-News18 program Vantage with Palki Sharma. She launched her journalism career in 2002 with Doordarshan before working as a senior anchor and editor at CNN-News18 and then rising to Managing Editor and anchor at WION, where her coverage of global affairs including the Russia-Ukraine conflict earned view counts in the millions. Outside of her work in journalism, she also owns a designer saree brand called Reyva.

Before fame

She grew up in a family that placed significant value on education. After completing her schooling at Loreto Convent in Shimla, she went on to obtain her master's degree in communication and journalism, as well as French certification, from Alliance Française in Delhi.

Trivia

Among her many career accolades, she earned Best News Reader in 2007 and Best International News Show for Gravitas in 2020. In 2021, she was also named TV Anchor of the Year at the IAA Leadership Awards.

Family life

In 2008, she married fellow journalist Sanket Upadhyay. Together, they share two children including a daughter named Manya and a younger son.
