Former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, who served under President George W. Bush from 2004 to 2006. He also represented the 14th district of Florida in the House of Representatives from 1989 to 2004.
He majored in ancient Greek at Yale and also studied Spanish and French.
He co-sponsored and support the USA PATRIOT Act, a 2001 law that expanded the government's ability to conduct surveillance on civilians suspected of terrorism.
His family owns the Scovill Manufacturing Company.
He was made a co-chair of the Joint 9/11 Intelligence Inquiry by George W. Bush.
