Political leader who assumed office as Prime Minister of Kenya in April of 2008. In 1992, he began representing Langata in the Kenyan Parliament.
After being involved in a 1982 political coup, he was briefly under house arrest.
He served his country as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005.
His marriage to Ida Oyoo produced four children: Fidel, Rosemary, Raila, and Winnie.
He served as Prime Minister under the administration of Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki.
