Actor known for starring as Carl Winslow on the ABC sitcom Family Matters from 1989 to 1998. He also played Sgt. Al Powell in the action films Die Hard and Die Hard 2. From 2011 to 2015 he portrayed Dash DeWitt in the CW series Hart of Dixie.

He earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and prior to beginning his acting career, changed his name from Reginald Vel Johnson to Reginald VelJohnson, losing the space with the hope that his name would stick out more.
