Mexican architect whose work included the Cathedral of Managua; designed private houses, public buildings, and master plans.
He graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in 1953. He opened his own practice in 1963 after spending five years employed by José Villagrán García.
He received the 1999 UIA Gold Medal, the 2000 AIA Gold Medal, and the 2011 Praemium Imperiale.
He was divorced and had six children.
He and soccer player Diego Reyes were both born in Mexico City, albeit in different generations.
