Robert David Atkinson

About

Economist who served as president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, a Washington D.C.-based public policy think tank. He promoted policies based on innovation economics. In 2011, Washingtonian magazine named him one of their "Tech Titans." In 2006, he was listed among Inc. magazine's "Best Friends in D.C.: Thinkers."

Before Fame

He moved to the United States in 1962. In 1977, he received a B.A. from New College of Florida. In 1985, he earned a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon.

Trivia

He was awarded the Joseph E. Pogue Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served as the Vice President of the Progressive Policy Institute. He also served as a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Family Life

In 1989, he married Anne-Marie Sherry Atkinson. They have a child named David.
