Remembered for his animation work on such Warner Brothers cartoon creations as Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes, he also animated such 1950s short films as Dime to Retire and The Hole Idea.
At the start of his career, he spent two years with the Walt Disney studios.
He frequently collaborated with fellow Warner Bros. animator Bob Clampett.
His brothers, Tom and Charles McKimson, also worked as animators.
Early in his career, he worked for a short-lived California animation studio founded by the son of writer Zane Grey.
