Lawyer who served as Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court from 2006-2008.
He was educated at St. Olaf College, then he earned his J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School, and then went on to George Washington University for his Master of Law.
He worked early in his career as a prosecutor with the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corp.
He married Kristin Anderson.
He and fellow lawyer, Gene Sperling, both attended the University of Minnesota.
