He grew up between California and Mississippi in a high-profile entertainment family. He graduated from California State University Northridge in 2011. He lived with his wife Mei Li Haskell, their sons, and Mei's parents Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshan Li in Tarzana, California. The murders of the victims occurred on or about November 6th, 2023, with the criminal case beginning to unfold publicly on November 7th and 8th, 2023. He was arrested on November 8th, 2023.

Family Life
His full name was Samuel Bond Haskell IV. His father Sam Haskell III is the former Executive Vice President and Worldwide Head of Television at the William Morris Agency who founded Magnolia Hill Productions and served as Miss America Organization CEO from 2015 to 2017. He met his wife Mei while the two were students at Cal State Northridge, and they married in 2010. they shared three young sons. He died by suicide in his jail cell at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on July 12th, 2025.
