Film and stage actress of the early 1900s most known for being the mother of legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor. Before relinquishing her own career in favor of motherhood, she made a name as a veteran actress herself, having starred in stage productions such as Arabesque, Fool's Bells, and Mama Loves Papa, in addition to numerous plays.

Before Fame

She made her debut film appearance in the 1914 film One of the Flames. In 1925, she performed on Broadway for the 1st time, in a production of The Dagger.

Trivia

Her debut movie One of the Flames was filmed at the National Historic Landmark, The Miller Brothers 101 Ranch in Ponca City, OK. The ranch had previously been the site of the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West Show, which featured performers such as Bill Pickett and Buffalo Bill Cody.

Family Life

Her birth name was Sara Viola Warmbrodt. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann and Samuel Sylvester Warmbrodt. In 1926, she married her husband Francis Lenn Taylor, with whom she remained until his passing in 1968. Together, they were the parents of Howard and Elizabeth Taylor.

She co-starred with actor Robert Cummings in the 4-act stage play The Fool, at Times Square Theatre from late 1922 to mid-1923. Her castmates from other stage productions in which she performed also included actors such as Donald Meek and Helen Broderick.
