Bangladeshi man who became a martyr of the Bangladesh language movement after he was shot in the back by a Pakistani Police Officer in 1952 while riding his bike to work.
He studied at the Government Commercial College of Kolkata.
The clothes worn at the time of his death have been displayed at the Bangladesh National Museum.
He and his wife, Aquila Khatoon, had a daughter named Asfia, and a son named Shafiqur.
He posthumously won the prestigious Ekushey Padak Award, which was also the case for poet Nazrul Islam .
