She began her acting career by playing the role of Vanessa in three episodes of the Nickelodeon series Unfabulous.

A singer and songwriter as well as an actress, she penned the track "That Child" for the 2012 film Life, Love, Soul.

Family Life

Though born in Miami, Florida, she grew up primarily in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is a cousin of pop star Beyonce Knowles.
