Before fame
He started acting as a child in theatre productions. He attended Pinelands High School before he studied at the Waterfront Theatre School and Jazzart Dance Theatre. His first onscreen role was in Zenon: Z3 in 2004. His first significant film role was The World Unseen in 2007, followed by Invictus in 2009. He developed and began performing his one-man stand-up comedy show DeKaf in the late 2000s. He began hosting The Man Cave in 2015.

He earned the Golden Ovation Award for Best Comedy in 2010. He hosted and produced the cooking competition series Jou Ma se Chef. He has received multiple SAFTA awards and nominations for his work as a performer and presenter. He competed on Strictly Come Dancing South Africa in 2014 and finished in 5th place. He has helped launch nationwide pad-distribution programs and school-based access initiatives through the MENstruation Foundation. He co-created the children's book series Florence & Watson with Rob van Vuuren and Danielle Bischoff.
Family life
His full name is Sivuyile Ngesi. He was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town, South Africa, and raised in a Xhosa family alongside three siblings. His mother, Jacqueline, worked as a school principal. He lost his father in a car accident in 2004.
