Known for his frequent work with Japanese anime director Goro Taniguchi, he lent his voice to such series as GetBackers, Gundam Seed, Digimon Savers, and Saiyuki. For his voice acting work, he received the prestigious Anime Grand Prix in both 2005 and 2006.
Early in his career, he voiced the role of Senzo Tachibana in the 1993 anime series Nintama Rantaro.
For his work in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny anime series, he earned a 2007 Seiyu Award nomination.
He was born in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture, in the city of Aizuwakamatsu.
He and Junko Takeuchi, born just over a month apart, both had successful careers in Japan as anime voice actors.
