Before Fame

He attended Duke University and Fordham University. He made his professional acting debut in 1989, as Sonny Brewster on the TV movie Love and Other Sorrows. Later that year, he also appeared as Sean Gardner on the TV movie Shannon's Deal.

He voiced the character of Darth Revan in the 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

He is the son of Richard Heckenkamp and actress Kathleen Nolan.
