English winger who made a Premiere League record 819 appearances for Southampton during his 18 years with the club. He won the FIFA World Cup representing England in 1966 and later led Hereford United to its first-ever Third Division title in 1976.
He was a coach builder at a British Railways depot in Eastleigh. He played for Winchester City as an amateur before making his professional debut with Southampton in 1957.
He was a bid ambassador for South Africa during the country's successful campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
