Tim Burchett

Politician and Republican lawmaker known for serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 2nd congressional district and for representing the Knoxville area. He is also known for having spent more than two decades in Tennessee politics serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives, the Tennessee Senate, and as Mayor of Knox County.

Before fame

He entered state politics in his early 30s. His first major elected office came in 1994 when he won a seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives with him beginning his term in 1995. He moved to the Tennessee Senate in 1999 and served for more than a decade. He was elected Mayor of Knox County in 2010 and served from 2010 to 2018. He was elected U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 2nd congressional district in 2018 and began serving in 2019.

Trivia

He has become known for his involvement in congressional efforts surrounding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) disclosures by helping lead high profile hearings in 2023. He helped promote the UAP Transparency Act in 2024 and in 2025 he backed legislation focused on whistleblower protections related to government secrecy.

Family life

His full name is Timothy Floyd Burchett. He was born and raised in East Tennessee. He married Kelly Burchett, and together they have a daughter named Isabel.
