Irish journalist who is best recognized for being the founder of O'Reilly Media. He is also recognized for his popularization of the words and concepts of Open Source Software and Web 2.0.
He attended Harvard University in 1973 where he graduated cum laude with his degree in Classics. He then started his career as a technical writer in 1977 and began publishing computer manuals in 1983. He gained further attention in 1992 after publishing the best-seller Whole Internet User's Guide and Catalogue.
He is also known for having served on the board of directors for several companies includinf Safari Books Online, Maker Media, and PeerJ.
He was born and raised in County Cork, Ireland and married Jennifer Pahlka in 2015.
He is known for having travelled to Washington D.C. in 2001 to lobby for patent reform alongside Jeff Bezos.
