Winger and midfielder whose prodigious skills have earned him the nickname "The Egyptian Magician." He is most famous for his years with Al Ahly SC, with whom he has won Egyptian Premier League, Egyptian Super Cup and other titles.

He played for his hometown youth squad Beni Mazar FC.

He led the Egyptian national team to victory at the 2011 Nile Basin Tournament.
