Zohar Strauss

About

Israeli actor who received acclaim for his starring role in the 2009 film, Eyes Wide Open. He went on to play John the Apostle in the 2018 biblical drama film, Mary Magdalene. From 2013 to 2021, he appeared in the award-winning drama series Shtisel. 

Before Fame

He studied law at the University of Leicester before deciding to pursue a career in acting. 

Trivia

He was named Best Supporting Actor at the 2009 Ophir Awards for his performance in the war film Lebanon. That same year, his role in Eyes Wide Open earned him the Award for Best Actor at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Throughout the course of his career as an actor, he has made over thirty appearances in different films and TV series'.

He was born to a secular Jewish family. His full name is Zohar Zalman Strauss.
