This film was based on the 1997 novel The Web of Belonging Actress, written by Stevie Davies. Actress Brenda Blethyn received a nomination for Best Actress at the 2005 BAFTA Awards in England for her performance in the film. The movie was the official film debut for Poppy Lee Friar.
