He was raised Muslim and spent many years training to be an imam.

He's become so strongly linked to the role of Amjad that, when he joined a soccer team in 2013, he was given a jersey with his character's name on the back.

Family Life

Afzal said that his father agreed to let him go out for an audition on the condition that, if he didn't get a role, he would continue his religious training.
