Russian journalist who is best recognized for being the spokesperson for Chechnya's leader Ramzan Kadyrov. He faced criticism in April of 2017 for the accusation of helping cover up the murders of several gay and queer individuals in the Chechnya community.
He began his career as a journalist working for different Russia-sanctioned media outlets. He then began working closely with Ramzan Kadyrov and soon became his press secretary.
He was quoted in an article in The Guardian along with several other press outlets denying the accusations of a coverup by stating there were in fact no gay people in the Chechnya area; "You cannot detain and persecute people who simply do not exist in the republic".
He was born and raised in Leninogorsk, Russia.
Due to his close association with Ramzan Kadyrov, he has met and is in close relation to Russian president Vladimir Putin.
