Known for her numerous appearances on the Los Angeles comedy circuit, she often performed with the "Mom Squad" women's comedy group. She was also a frequent contributor to a popular live Hollywood show called "ChopSchtick Comedy."
After graduating from Westminster Choir College with a degree in music education, she briefly operated an animal care company.
Her comedy acts often focused on the topics of adoption, child-rearing, and racial tensions.
A native of South Korea, she was adopted as a child by a Swedish family living Minnesota. She and businessman Kent Emmons welcomed a daughter, Aubrey, in 2007.
Her famous daughter, Aubrey Emmons, played the childhood role of Lily Tucker-Pritchett on the ABC series Modern Family.
