Grammy winning songwriter and record producer known for being one half of the influential R&B production duo Dre & Vidal and for his work on classic songs such as "Caught Up" by Usher, "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" by Chris Brown, "Oh" by Ciara, "Say Yes" by Floetry, "Love" by Musiq Soulchild, "The Way" by Jill Scott, and "Folded" by Kehlani. He is also known for his work on Grammy-winning albums including Usher's Confessions and Alicia Keys' The Diary of Alicia Keys.

Before fame

He was immersed in music from an early age through his local church community. He began playing drums when he was 7 years old. He expanded his skills as a teenager by teaching himself piano, guitar, and bass. He worked behind the scenes in the 1990s on projects connected to artists such as Michael Jackson, Will Smith, Jill Scott, and Musiq Soulchild. He formally teamed up with producer Vidal Davis in 2000 forming the duo Dre & Vidal. His big break came in 2005 when he produced for both Usher and Alicia Keys albums Confessions and The Diary of Alicia Keys and both won awards at the 2005 Grammy Awards.

Trivia

He co-executive produced Jill Scott's 2015 album Woman which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. He signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music in January 2026. He is also known for his Instagram account @drebombay where he highlights studio work, career milestones, and industry reflections.

He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
