Before Fame
He began his stand-up career in 1977 and originally performed at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles before he relocated to Houston in the early 1980s. He officially joined the Texas Outlaw Comics in 1981. He spent the 1980s and 1990s performing across clubs nationwide. He appeared on America's Got Talent in 2018 which helped boost his comedy career and presence and introduced him to a national audience.
Trivia
He struggled with alcohol earlier in his career but got sober in 1988. He released the full comedy special Early Bird Special in 2023. He saw a major surge in online popularity in the 2020s due to the viral success of his short-form comedy clips on Instagram and TikTok.
