Television writer, playwright, author, director, and comedian, he is best known for appearing at various Upright Citizens Brigade comedy shows like Asssscat, Brand New Ball, Reuben Starship, and Shut Up! I Hate You! He was also UCB's artistic director in New York City from 2005 to 2011.

Before Fame

He attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He began writing for web series and television. His musical Gutenberg! The Musical! was first performed in 2005 at the NY Musical Theatre Festival.


He has written for NBC's Best Friends Forever, Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Comedy Central's Broad City, and more. He won an Emmy for Night Of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit For Autism Education on Comedy Central. He also wrote the Off-Broadway and Off-West End musical Gutenberg! The Musical!

Family Life

He moved to Los Angeles in 2011. He married writer Kate Spencer and they have two daughters.
