Famous as the eldest daughter of famed showman and businessman PT Barnum. She traveled with her father during his production of Jenny Lind's tour of America in 1950, sometimes posing as Lind to allow the opera singer a safe exit from her shows.
Her father rose to fame for his P. T. Barnum's Grand Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan & Hippodrome circus. He first promoted the Fiji mermaid and General Tom Thumb.
Her father's mansion nearly burned down on the day of her wedding in 1852. She often traveled with him during his years promoting his circus.
Her husband's name was David Thompson. She shared two children with him named Phineas and Frances.
