Champagne Charlie helped turn around Arsenal in the 1980s after the team lost some of their big stars. He was a member of the Scottish national team from 1983 to 1989.
He joined Arsenal amid great fanfare and high hopes, after scoring 50 goals for Celtic F.C. the previous season.
He scored a total of 184 goals during his 481-game career.
He was born in Glasgow, Scotland.
