While a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly (from 1953 to 1986), this Labour Party politician also served as Leader of the Opposition and Minister for Works and Water Supplies.
After serving in both the Australian Imperial Force and the Royal Australian Air Force, he was employed by the Midland Railway Workshops.
In the late 1980s, he received the prestigious Order of Australia honor.
He grew up in Perth, Western Australia, as the son of World War I veteran George Jamieson and Mona Colvin. His marriage to Emily Margaret Male resulted in two children.
