Competitive sailor who won bronze in the 1992 Olympic Finn Class event in Barcelona and also competed in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
He grew up in New Zealand, where he learned to sail.
He has been a grinder in the 34th America's Cup for Artemis Racing.
His parents are Elsdon and Margaret. He married Cher Lloyd in 2013; they have a daughter named Delilah-Rae together. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
