After performing with the ska band The Beat during the late 1970s and early 1980s, this bassist and songwriter became a member of the 1980s rock band Fine Young Cannibals.
His first album with The Beat, I Just Can't Stop It, was released in 1980 and became a certified UK Gold recording.
A music producer as well as a musician, he produced a popular 1993 album by the British R&B singer Gabrielle.
He grew up in Cowes, Isle of Wight, England, and later lived in New Orleans, Louisiana (U.S.A.) before ultimately settling in London.
He and his The Beat and Fine Young Cannibals bandmate, Andy Cox, recorded an independent track titled "Tired of Getting Pushed Around" that rose to a #18 position on the United Kingdom singles chart.
