Notable for his character roles in numerous films and television series of the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and '90s, he is perhaps best remembered for his work in the 1975 feature The Land That Time Forgot (as Olson) and in the television series Doctor Who (as the recurring characters Till and Clark).
He made his screen acting debut in the 1962 Alec Guinness starrer Damn the Defiant! Also a theater performer, he appeared in productions at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court Theatre.
He portrayed Jabba the Hutt in a deleted scene from the classic 1977 film Star Wars.
He and his four siblings were born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He died suddenly in his mid-60s.
He appeared with John Cleese in the 1981 movie Time Bandits.
