South African singer and songwriter known for his mix of Afrikaans pop, folk, and arena-rock along with his viral cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher Than the Rest." He is also known for his singles "Vuur Op Die Water," "Die Lyn," "Woorde Uit Jou Mond," "Binne & Buite," "Asseblief," "Hand Aan Hand," and "Lieflik" along with multiple albums including Kleindorp-Dromer, Boomhuis, Rugsak, Estetika, and Aandklank.

Before Fame

He left home when he was 19 years old to study drama at Cape Town's Waterfront Theatre School. He posted the now-famous "Tougher Than the Rest" cover while he was still a student there in 2016. He was quickly offered a record deal. He released his debut album Kleindorp-Dromer in 2017.

Trivia

He got his record deal live on the radio as Ernst Kleinhans from Select Musiek phoned into Bok Radio during his interview to make the offer on air. His hit song "Vuur Op Die Water" inspired a line-dance choreography.

His full name is Elandré Schwartz. He was born and raised in Despatch, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
