Composer, musician, and former novelist highly regarded for having worked with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, the oldest symphony in the United States.
He enrolled in the Royal College of Music in 1893 where he studied alongside future composers like Gustav Holst and William Hurlstone.
He wrote nearly 15 orchestral compositions over the course of his career, and in 1934 composed, produced, and executed his own symphony.
He was born in the town of Brockley, England.
