Actor, director, and voice actor known for his work on the first season of Saturday Night Live and for being the voice of Woodhouse on the FX animated series Archer. He was also known for appearing in numerous films and television shows during his long career including The Stepford Wives, Somerset, The Doctors, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Mighty Ducks, The Entity, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Boston Legal.

Before fame

He attended Admiral Farragut Academy and studied at Hofstra University before serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after completing his military service. He began his professional acting career in theater and made his Broadway debut in 1957. His first onscreen role was in an episode of For the People in 1965.

Trivia

He was nominated for an Academy Award in 1969 for the short film The Dove which he produced, directed, and acted in. He received the Screen Actors Guild's Ralph Morgan Award in 2009 for service to the union. He remained professionally active for nearly 60 years working consistently from the 1950s through the 2010s. He provided voice work for major video games including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Guild Wars 2.

Family life

He was born George Julian Cohen in New York City, New York. He was married and had two daughters. He was also a grandfather. He spent his later years in California and passed away on July 18th, 2015, in Santa Monica, California after a long illness.
