Author, publisher, artist, and feminist activist who founded the positive sexuality website Scarleteen and the art site Femmerotic. She also worked as a contraception and abortion counselor at a Washington State sexual health clinic.
She studied art, music and creative writing at the Chicago Academy of the Arts and later worked as a Montessori teacher.
Her essay, "The Door Into One Moment, Eternal," was nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize.
She and her partner settled in Seattle, Washington.
She and fellow author Rita Brown both became known for their lesbian-themed works.
