He made his official NHL debut with the Arizona Coyotes at just 18 years and 198 days old. By doing so, he became the youngest player in Coyote franchise history to make an NHL debut. On March 1, 2023, the Coyotes traded Chychrun to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a conditional first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, a conditional second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
