Former professional boxing Heavyweight best known for winning the United States Amateur Heavyweight Championship in 1991. He later founded the John Bray Boxing Foundation for at-risk children.
He grew up in Van Nuys, California in the notorious crime-ridden area known as Delano Street.
Outside of boxing, he was a private investigator and accidentally shot himself in the mouth with a 9mm gun.
His mother cared for him after he suffered a near-fatal stroke in 1999.
He was succeeded as United States Amateur Heavyweight Champion by Shanon Briggs in 1992.
