American politician and member of the Democratic party who served as a United States Senator from Wyoming from 1917 to 1933 and as the 9th Governor of Wyoming.
He grew up on a ranch and attended public schools in Texas until 7th grade.
He was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1958.
He married Eula Wulfjen and had one son.
He and John Barrasso both served as Senators in Wyoming.
