Poet whose works include Eve's Striptease and Sleeping Preacher. Also an essayist, she published a 2009 collection entitled The Body and the Book: Writing a Mennonite Life.
She attended New York University and Goshen College. She received the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize for Sleeping Preacher, her debut work.
She received the Pushcart Prize in Poetry in 2004.
She was born into a Mennonite family and was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She and Sylvia Plath both grew up in the northeastern United States.
