Sports executive most famous for becoming the first female to ever act as a Big Four Leagues general manager in 2020, when she was appointed to the position for the Miami Marlins. She's also the first person of east Asian descent to act as an MLB general manager. She held the position until 2023 when she declined an option contract for the following season. She previously held the position of assistant general manager for MLB teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees, thus helping lead the latter to its three consecutive World Series wins between 1998 and 2000.

Before Fame

She played tennis and softball in high school and played collegiate softball while attending the University of Chicago, where she also acted as president of the Women's Athletic Association during her senior year. After graduating in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in public policy, she earned an internship with the Chicago White Sox, thus marking the start of what would become a long and accomplished career in sports management.

She was ranked at #13 on Forbes' 2015 Most Influential Minorities in Sports list. She has been included on Most Powerful Women in Sports lists published by Bleacher Report, Forbes, and Adweek. She was also named in Forbes' inductive 50 Over 50 list in the year 2021. 

Family Life

She is the daughter of Virginia Fong who was a banker, and Jin Ng, a former financial analyst. She has four younger sisters. She is married to the co-owner of Silas Wines Tony Markward.
