American pop singer who became the winner of the sixteenth season of The Voice. She is also known for having performed as a singer and dancer on broadway prior to her appearances on the show. 

Before Fame

When she was two years old, her eardrums were damaged which left her deaf in her right ear. At thirteen, she still signed up for voice lessons to prove she had the talent. She started singing professionally at 17 and even moved to New York so she could perform on broadway. 

Trivia

During her blind audition for The Voice, she sang Sting's song "Field of Gold: and was the first contestant to make all four judges turn around. 

Family Life

She was born in Frisco, Texas but later settled in New York, New York. She is known for having dated fellow singer and musician John Murrell.
