Queen of Denmark who is known for being the supreme authority of the Church of Denmark and Commander-in-Chief of the Danish Defense. She made history for being the first female monarch of Denmark since Margrethe I who ruled the Scandinavian kingdoms in 1375.
Her father passed the Act of Succession which permitted female succession to the throne of Denmark if no brother exists. She was given a seat in the Council of State at eighteen. She was educated in private schools and studied prehistoric archaeology at Girton College at Cambridge and political science at Aarhus University.
She is known for being only the seventh Lady of the Order of the Garter since 1901. She is also the Colonel-in-Chief of The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment in the United Kingdom.
She was born and raised in Amalienborg, Copenhagen, Denmark. She was the eldest child of Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden.
