Mariano Pernia

Argentine former soccer player who won UEFA Europa League and Copa del Rey titles with Atletico Madrid. Though he was born in Argentina, he represented Spain at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Before Fame

He came up through the youth system at San Lorenzo before making his senior debut with the club in 1997.

Trivia

He suffered lung injuries and a broken clavicle as a result of a car accident in July 2009.

Family Life

His brothers, Leonel and Gaston, have both played in the Major Indoor Soccer League.

He was teammates with Carles Puyol on the Spanish team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
