Pentecostal pastor and public speaker, best known as the mother of pop star, Katy Perry. There was renewed attention on her and her husband, fellow pastor Keith, in April 2025, when Katy went into space on Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket. She has over 10,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts under the handle maryarises.

Before Fame

She met her husband, Keith, while she was a radio news director and freelance journalist and married him in Las Vegas in 1979. They then set up their own church in Santa Barbara, and have dedicated their lives to traveling the globe sharing their faith. In 2021, she and Keith were under scrutiny for their charity spending habits when it was revealed that 96 percent of donations to their charity, Keith Hudson Ministries, actually went towards expenses like Marriott Hotel retreats, flights, meals and cars.

Trivia

According to her Instagram profile, she is also an author and speaker who is dedicated to "raising up bold women to think outside the box." In 2025, she began running for a seat on the Republican Party's Central Committee in Santa Barbara County, California. 

Family Life

She is married to Keith Hudson. Her children are David, Angela and Katy. Katy Perry got her stage last name from Mary's maiden name, which is Perry.
