Born Damian Hess and known to his fans as MC Frontalot, this recording artist coined the term "nerdcore" and performed rap music in the genre, focusing his hip hop lyrics on topics of interest to video gamers, science fiction fans, political enthusiasts, and other categories of "nerds."
After studying electronic music and English at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, he became known for his numerous winning entries in a web-based music competition called Song Fight!
After recording a 2000 hit song titled "Nerdcore Hiphop" and subsequently releasing a debut album, Nerdcore Rising, he was recognized by the creators of the Penny Arcade webcomic as the publication's "rapper laureate."
A native of San Francisco, California, he later relocated to New York City's Brooklyn neighborhood.
He and fellow nerdcore rappers MC Lars, Optimus Rhyme, and MC Chris were featured in a 2008 documentary film in which musical parody songwriter and singer Weird Al Yankovic also appeared.
