5-time NBA All-Star guard from 1977 to 1981 for the Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics. After retirement, he went on to coach for both the Suns and SuperSonics.
He attended the University of Southern California before being drafted 10th overall by the Boston Celtics.
He made many memorable plays in game 5 of the 1976 Finals as a member of the Boston Celtics, a game many considered to be the greatest basketball game ever played.
His wife Cindy was treated for an undisclosed illness in 2010.
He coached Charles Barkley and the rest of the Phoenix Suns to a Finals appearance in his first season as head coach.
