Filipino singer and songwriter known not only for his albums, but also for writing for many of the Philippines' popular acts and providing musical scores for film. In 2009, he became a member of the Philippines Eastwood City Walk of Fame.
He started his career as a member of Electric Hair Band and wrote his first single, "Ako Si Superman," in 1977.
He's served as a judge of the reality show It's Showtime. In the early 1980s, his career was plagued by a person impersonating him while committing crimes.
He and his wife have four children.
