Before fame

She developed an early love for music, theatre, and cooking. She trained in acting and opera during her youth and studied theatre for several years at performing arts schools in Milan. She also trained as a classical singer at the Scuola Musicale di Milano. She developed a mezzo-soprano voice and performed in stage productions and musical theatre before entering film and television. Her earliest screen roles came in the early 2000s including the Italian film Casomai in 2002. Her international breakthrough came in 2004 when she appeared in the Hollywood fantasy film Van Helsing. She was born and raised in Milan, Lombardy, Italy. She was born to Mario Colloca and Loredana Colloca. She married Australian actor Richard Roxburgh in September 2004, and they have three children together named Raphael, Miro, and Luna.
